The staff includes 20 nurses, 3 Licensed Practical assisstants and a receptionist.
The overall objectives of the NICU is to promote the health of preterm infants from the Centers of adjacent counties and hospitals.
In recent years, the department had 6 approved beds with the limited capacity of admitting neonatal while previously, it had had more capacity for admission of preterm babies.
Reduction of mechanical ventilation in neonates, an increased use of NCPAP devices, surfactant injection, conducting methods such as arms care and massage therapy for babies are great steps so far taken.
Neonatal survival rate has been done for poster presentation and paper at the congress of improving the health of newborns in Mashhad with the help of Dr. Heydarzade, Mrs jafarzade, Mrs Honarmand.
Editing ACORN book as the guideline for the NICU center, enabling tests, workshops of taking care of high-risk infants, development of neonatal resuscitation book and mega code test for hospital personnel with the help of Dr. Heidarzade are some other actions carried here. Collection and compilation of injection of surfactant and neonatal survival is ongoing.
Setup Clinic for evaluation of growth and development of preterm infants, especially after discharge will be done until the baby is 60 months old.
